Until we got to the Mara, we hadn’t seen many lions--in fact, Pat’s bitter disappointment in Aberdare & Samburu stemmed from not seeing any lions at those places. As the trip went along, and no lions anywhere people always said, don’t worry, there are lots of lions at Samburu. Alas, even at Samburu lions were as rare as unicorns. In that context, you can perhaps imagine our delight when within sight of the airstrip when we landed, Joshua took us directly to a small pride of lions. I was so excited I could hardly keep my hands still enough to take pictures!
After our long lion drought, Joshua found lions almost every time we went out on a game drive. Lions aren’t afraid of much. They’re supremely indifferent to camera-toting Land Roving tourists. Like most cats, they spend a lot of time lazying around and sleeping
